Spot Check is a quick sanity-check tool for audiometric booth speakers. Use it to track a speaker's output over time, or to compare a suspect speaker against one that is known to be working well.
It is not intended as a substitute for proper equipment calibration. Use it to spot problems, not to certify that your setup meets any standard.
The app saves the level at a single moment in time, so it works best with steady signals like continuous pure tones or noise. Speech signals are too variable to give a reliable reading — the app does not average over longer periods, so a snapshot of speech will not tell you much.
Place your phone at ear level in the sound field, with the mic facing the speaker.
1. Set the Frequency, Pres. Level, and Speaker to match the audiometer.
2. Start the tone on the audiometer, then tap Start Monitoring.
3. Wait for the reading to settle, then tap Save Now. Use Save in 3 s if you need a moment to step away before the reading is captured.
4. Change to the next frequency on both the audiometer and this app, and repeat.
Results are saved to the table and grouped by booth and date. Tap the Peak value at any time to reset it.
Microphone audio is never recorded or transmitted. It is processed entirely on-device and used only to display the sound level.
Measurement results are saved only on this device. Nothing is sent to a server or stored in the cloud.
